Date Night @ WPTL - Make Your Own Bourbon Barrel

Learn the lost art of coopering! Join our hands-on workshop where you will fabricate, char, and seal your own bourbon barrel using food-safe white oak. This class is a fun, date night-friendly workshop to learn more about the skill of coopering, Philadelphia's barrel making history, and basic woodworking skills using router tables and a drill press. Your personal barrel will hold approximately 2 liters, and can be used to age bourbon, whiskey, rum, tequila, and more! The increased surface area of this small barrel compared to large barrels will accelerate the aging process significantly - with results in just a few weeks! We are so excited to offer Philadelphia's ONLY barrel-making class and we hope you will join us! Please feel free to bring a drink (or two) for the class, but be aware that no alcohol will be consumed during the power tools portion of this course. Each ticket is for (1) oak barrel, but can accommodate (2) people total for the date night. You may purchase two separate tickets if you would like to make two barrels! The cost of this class is flexible. West Philly Tool Library is committed to keeping our classes affordable and accessible to as many people as possible. Cancellations and Credit: If you have signed up for a class but are unable to attend, please complete this form to cancel your enrollment. Per our policy, for cancellation requests received at least one week before the class, we will issue a credit towards a future class. We are unable to guarantee credit for cancellation requests received less than seven days before the date of the class, although we will do our best to accommodate late cancellations if we are able to fill your spot. Tickets are transferable; please notify us using this form prior to the class if someone else will be attending in your stead and provide the attendees name and email address.
