Your membership has been transferred to our new system. Keep visiting and borrowing as usual—we’ll resolve any issues at your next visit.
Neighborhood associations, community groups, schools, CDCs, places of worship, other charitable organizations, small businesses, home share/roommates and partners can borrow tools with a group membership.
Group members designate individuals who can borrow tools on behalf of the group. Standard loan periods apply—tools are due back within one week. Groups may borrow higher quantities of items for projects and events, at the librarian’s discretion.
Every group must have one administrator who has login access and will receive all emails from WPTL. The administrator must visit the Tool Library in person to set up the account. Once the account is active, the administrator can add or remove named individuals from their member portal at any time. The administrator is financially liable for any damages or lost tools checked out by any named individual on the account.
Our individual memberships only allow the named user to borrow tools from WPTL (any person can make returns). We do not allow partners, roommates, friends, or even family to borrow tools on another member’s account. With a group account, multiple individuals can be on a single account and can enjoy full access to WPTL to borrow and return tools.
Groups may borrow higher quantities of items than individual members—for example, taking several rakes or wheelbarrows for a community cleanup event or a family yard care day. WPTL reserves the right to limit quantities of some categories of tools, such as power tools or seasonal tools in high demand, at the librarian’s discretion. These limits apply to the entire group account: if a quantity limit applies, multiple named individuals cannot circumvent it through separate transactions. Standard loan periods (one week) still apply.
Any named individual on the group membership can also incur late fees and penalties for lost or damaged tools, which can block the entire group from borrowing until the balance is paid in full. If there is an overdue balance and someone else in the group wants to borrow tools, they must pay the full balance before they can borrow.
Our minimum group membership is $125.
For partners and home share/roommates, we recommend donating $10 for every $10,000 in combined annual gross income.
For all other organizations and institutions, we recommend donating an amount that is reasonable for your use case. If you have an active organization with a dozen individuals on the account and multiple projects throughout the year, we recommend donating 1% of your revenue. For single projects or occasional usage, the $125 minimum is a great starting point. Contact us if you have questions about pricing.
To get started, the group administrator visits the Tool Library in person with a valid ID and payment. Once the account is set up, the administrator can add named individuals from their online member portal. The group must keep a card on file for any late fees or damages. Contact us with questions before your visit.
